Nook Miles can be earned through doing simple tasks like fishing, selling, and talking to neighbors. There’s also long term Nook Miles goals, such as filling the Critterpedia and making sure there is one of every fruit tree on the island. No matter how the player racks up these miles, having a lot in their back pocket could mean getting some awesome rewards. Here’s a list of the 10 coolest items and upgrades that can be redeemed using Nook Miles, ranked in reverse order.
10 Nook Inc. Gear
As the island representative, the player may feel like they want to represent the Nook Inc. brand in as upfront of a way as possible. With Nook Miles, there is an abundance of gear under the Nook Inc. brand available to be redeemed, from aloha shirts to a knapsack. The player also can use miles to buy gear for their home, with wallpaper and flooring available with the Nook Inc. logo, as well as multiple rugs that really round out this corporate-friendly room. Make Tom Nook proud.
9 Lighthouse
Those who have been playing Animal Crossing for a long time know how much of a staple the lighthouse has been since the very first game. It would’ve been a shame if New Horizons decided to not include it among the upgrades players can add to their islands. Not only did they include a lighthouse in the game, but players can even carry it around in their pockets and place it wherever they would like without having to wait for construction. The lighthouse also comes in different colors, so players just have to talk to their friends to see what colors they have.
8 Custom Design Pro Editor
Being able to create custom designs is available early on in the NookPhone. But being able to make specific designs depending on the canvas is rather limited. That’s where the Custom Design Pro Editor comes in handy.

The tool, which costs 800 Nook Miles, allows players to create designs for specific articles of clothing, from long-sleeved dress shirts to short-sleeved dresses. In addition to all the templates, players also can customize colors from palettes and individually design different sections of their piece.
7 Hair Customizations
Out of the gate, there aren’t a ton of customization options for the player’s hairstyles and colors. This changes with getting a mirror, and then with redeeming some expansions with Nook Miles. There are three additional hair customization kits that are available at the Nook Stop. The “Top 8 Pop Hairstyles” and “Top 8 Cool Hairstyles” kits are worth 2,400 miles each and expand your hair library to 30, if you have a mirror. The “Top 8 Stylish Hair Colors” kit is worth 3,000 Nook Miles, bringing your total hair color options to 16.
6 Terraforming Options
Shortly after K.K. Slider performs on the island, Tom Nook will approach the player and give them access to terraforming through a new app called the “Island Designer Construction Permit.” When players first use this tool, they would only be able to create dirt paths. But with Nook Miles, they can expand what they can do. They can redeem Cliff-Construction and Waterscaping permits for 6,000 miles each. They also redeem different path variations to spice up the walkways around the island. Each path costs 2,000 miles each.
5 Bell Voucher
There are some in the world who don’t follow the life of the stalk market and need to get bells in a different way. Upon upgrading Residential Services, players are able to redeem Bell Vouchers from the Nook Stop for only 500 Nook Miles. These vouchers can be sold to the Nooklings at Nook’s Cranny for 3,000 bells each, meaning that these miles are worth more than bells themselves. These vouchers are also among the cheapest to redeem at the Nook Stop, so buying these in abundance for lots of cash could help pay off house loans sooner.
4 Tool Upgrades
The early game is challenging at times, especially when it comes to tools. Dealing with flimsy nets and fishing rods is difficult as they break quickly. Earning miles eventually allows players to redeem a set of recipes that can give you tools with better durability.

Speaking of tools, one handy mechanism that is redeemable at the Nook Stop is the tool ring. What it does is give players instant access to up to eight tools that are in their pockets with a simple button. This can be helpful when in need of a quick switch.
3 Bigger Pockets
When players first arrive on their island, they have just a little bit of room in their pockets to carry things around. This may not be painful at first, but as more things are earned in the game, it’ll be harder to deal with just 20 slots in the inventory. Luckily, with Nook Miles, players can get the Pocket Organization Guide, which for 5,000 miles, increases their amount of space to 30. When the Residential Services is fully upgraded, the Nook Stop will make available what’s called the Ultimate Pocket Stuffing, which then increases space to 40. This costs 8,000 miles.
2 Nook Miles Ticket
The Nook Miles Ticket is the most obvious choice to include among the cool things available. This is a very important item in the game that allows players to travel to a random island and use it to gather materials and experience things they may not be able to on their normal island. Sometimes there is rare fruit or rare flowers. There are even islands dedicated to specific kinds of fish and bugs. Players may even run into a castaway who may be interested in moving into their town. The possibilities are truly endless, all at a cost of 2,000 miles for each trip.
1 Massive Statues
To recap, the Nook Stop allows players to redeem their miles for upgrades with customization, terraforming, tools, and pockets. It even gives players trips to exotic places. But the coolest things that the Nook Stop provides players is the chance to put massive monster and robot statues on display on the island to turn their little home into a potential fight for the ages between reptile and machine. Monster statues can be redeemed outright for 5,000 Nook Miles. Players will need to craft the robot but can get the recipe from the stop for the same price.
