Even better is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still receiving consistent updates as the series adapts a more modern approach to its life simulation genre. Now, the recent Summer update has made some big changes, including a quality of life change that makes finding custom designs in-game much more convenient.

New Horizons has really embraced the series focus on community and sharing players creations through online connections over the internet. Though New Horizons’ built-in online infrastructure is still a bit clunky in some areas, on the whole the game makes it easy enough for players to post and share their creations for other players to find. Even now, players are uploading tons of dream addresses in New Horizons following the recent summer update.

Speaking of, the New Horizon’s update on July 30 came with a handful of quality of life changes in regards to custom designs and patterns. Now, players can search for designs by the name of the design, something that was sorely missing in the months after the game’s launch. Even better is that players can now create their owns lists of their favorite design creators so they can easily follow any new patterns and designs that creator makes and uploads.

To go into specifics, the recent update added a brand new favorite feature when searching for creator’s designs at the Able Sister’s kiosk. Simply find a creator whose designs stand out and press the X button to favorite them and add them to a list of other favorite creators. Additionally, the update added a feature that lets players search for design criteria like certain names or types. Needless to say, these new features are leaps and bounds more convenient than the previous search options. The Summer update added plenty of new content and quality of life changes, so hopefully the upcoming Halloween update this fall does the same.

It really feels like the content updates to New Horizons continue to breathe new life into the game months after its initial release. While some players feel burnt out on the game now, the appeal of Animal Crossing is that though the game is ever-changing players can always jump right back in and continue from where they left off with no real harsh penalties. No doubt plenty of players are hopping back in with this recent update to see all the new changes and catch all the new fish and bugs available in August.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
