Reddit user Juliathempdg recently posted three images showing their baked macarons that share the likeness with a trio of characters prominently featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The two flavors of macarons are made to look like Tom Nook’s nephews Timmy and Tommy, who have joined him in each Animal Crossing game, and his assistant Isabelle. Going beyond aesthetically reflecting the Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters with high attention to detail, the flavors of the macarons also match their in-game personalities.

A duo of chocolate hazelnut macarons is bundled together as cherries are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a green vine-like icing conjoining macarons that resemble the twins from New Horizons’ Nook’s Cranny Timmy and Tommy. An even more intricately detailed Isabelle is effectively represented atop a fittingly yellow peach jam and vanilla Anglaise buttercream. Juliathempdg also highlights three other types of macarons in their photos, with one looking like a peach from the Animal Crossing series and the other two sharing a simple design in yellow and pink.
Isabelle is one of few Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters that isn’t strictly limited to the Animal Crossing franchise, as she has appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Timmy and Tommy Nook are represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as well as part of Villager and Isabelle’s Final Smash moves in which they encase the target in a building that they swiftly construct. Because Isabelle and the Nook twins have been prominently featured in recent Animal Crossing games, Juliathempdg may be making macarons sharing the same likeness in celebration of future titles.
Juliathempdg stated that they started baking macarons during the pandemic, and many Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have applauded their quick ability to make them look like Nintendo characters. The inspiration to tie Timmy and Tommy together as if they’re cherries came from Juliathempdg’s desire to incorporate another fruit element beyond the peach macarons that look as if they just fell out of an Animal Crossing: New Horizons fruit tree. While some Animal Crossing fans have expressed interest in buying the New Horizons-inspired macarons, Juliathempdg is currently just baking them for friends and family, and to further their passion for baking.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
