Many members of the gaming industry stated that New Horizons was the perfect game to come out during the coronavirus pandemic, but this is still an incredibly tough time for the world. As many readers know, the coronavirus pandemic has impacted nearly every aspect of the world, including the video game industry, with major releases like The Last of Us: Part II and Ghosts of Tsushima getting delayed and released later than originally planned. However, another major industry that shares much in common with the video game industry – being the anime industry – has also been heavily impacted during the pandemic.
The anime industry has been hit with massive production delays due to the pandemic, which has affected many seasonal anime releases during the last two seasons. Even major serialized anime like the new Yu-Gi-Oh series have gone on indefinite hiatus as a result of the virus. Many anime fans have been frustrated by the number of delays to some of their favorite shows, but many members of the community have taken to creative outlets during this time, one of which is Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
On Reddit, an artist going by the username koncertkoala posted an incredibly well-done recreation of Gohan’s room in New Horizons. An astounding amount of detail was captured in just one screenshot, from similarly colored items to even the lighting that colored the original scene. The use of furniture from the game’s catalog to expertly mimic the original scene’s layout is almost exact, complete with a giant stuffed panda bear and similarly colored globe.
Fans have gone to some staggering lengths to create some truly artistic and impressive things in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Many players have made some very creative houses styled after specific furniture themes or even pop-culture references. While the tools that New Horizons gives players are somewhat rigid in their design or implementation, members of the community have really managed to make excellent use of the tools they were given. Hopefully many anime fans impacted by recent delays can also alleviate their frustration in New Horizons as well.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
