As with the bugs that are disappearing after May, players wanting to complete their museums should nab these creatures before having to wait for their eventual return. Players should note that they have to catch the fish themselves and cannot send fish to other players.

Northern Hemisphere

There are a total of three fish that will be leaving after May in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These fish are:

Golden Trout - Found from 4 PM to 9 AM (River Clifftops) Oarfish - Found all day (Ocean) Loach - Found all day (River)

The golden trout is an especially valuable, but rare fish that can normally be sold for 15,000 bells. Even if players have already donated this fish to museums, it is still recommended to catch more to sell to CJ.

Southern Hemisphere

The southern hemisphere will be losing 10 fish with the coming chill of winter coming in June. These fish are:

Golden Trout - Found from 4 PM to 9 AM (River Clifftops) Barred Knifejaw - Found all day (Ocean) Char - Found from 4 PM to 9 AM (River Clifftops) Ray - Found from 4 AM to 9 PM (Ocean) Mitten Crab - Found from 4 PM to 9 AM (River) Guppy - Found from 9 AM to 4 PM (River) Sea Horse - Found all day (Ocean) Cherry Salmon - Found from 4 PM to 9 AM (River Clifftops) Neon Tetra - Found from 9 AM to 4 PM (River) Zebra Turkeyfish - Found all day (Ocean)

Players should note that the golden trout will be disappearing worldwide and only seems to spawn in its set months around the world. Due to this reason, players cannot travel to another player’s island in another hemisphere to catch a golden trout unless the island traveled to in question has been through time traveling.

After players catch every single fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they will soon learn the recipe for the Gold Fishing Rod, the highest quality and durability of any fishing rod.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
