One of the biggest changes Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will notice on their island in April is the addition of cherry blossom trees. Until April 10, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will see cherry blossom trees all over their island, which in turn spawn cherry blossom petals that can be plucked out of the sky with a net. These petals can be used in DIY recipes, so anyone that wants to fully complete their Animal Crossing: New Horizons furniture collection will definitely want to collect some.

Cherry blossoms were in Animal Crossing: New Horizons last year, but April 2021 will include some new content for fans to collect as well. Until April 30, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will have the opportunity to collect prom-themed items for their island, with prom furniture purchasable through Nook Shopping. Players will also be able to dress for the occasion by purchasing prom outfits from the Able Sisters shop throughout the month of April.
A new month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons also means that new fish, bugs, and sea creatures have cycled into the game. Players will now find guppy in their island’s river, and they will also find Atlas Moths fluttering around at night time. Anyone that missed out on adding the April 2021 fish and bugs to their collection should make sure to do so this month.
Last year at this time, Animal Crossing: New Horizons didn’t even have sea creatures to collect, but now there’s plenty that fans can find in the ocean surrounding their island. April 2021 means Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can go deep sea diving for some Sea Pineapple as well, so players have a great opportunity to further complete their collection of sea creatures as well.
For now, the monthly rotation of new sea creatures, fish, and bugs may be all that Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have to look forward to. Nintendo has not announced any other big updates for the game, and it’s possible that the development team is done with those and ready to move on to other things. Regardless, there have been numerous big updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released for it since launch, so many fans of the game are likely satisfied with what it has to offer at this point.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
