Upon arrival, players will find themselves facing a tricky hedge maze, and without any access to their items. To make it all the way through and grab the exclusive item, as well as nine Bell Vouchers, players will need to tackle the maze in just the right way. Fortunately, a call to Mr. Resetti on the Nook Phone will “rescue” the player from a dead end, and the layout of the maze never changes. For those players who’d prefer to avoid trial and error, here’s how to make it through first time.

Breaking Ground

First, players should grab the shovel sitting on the ground at the entrance of the maze. Then, use it to dig up the bush on the character’s left, and eat the fruit there to gain the energy to dig up the tree blocking the path ahead. Now that the maze is open, explore all the open paths and grab every tree branch, stone, and wood on the ground, as well as the Worn Axe.

The Worn Axe can only cut down one tree, so head to the upper left part of the maze and cut down the tree blocking off two fruit and a tree branch. Eat the fruit and pick up the tree branch, then head to the lower left of the maze and break the rock blocking an Iron Nugget.

After grabbing the Nugget, head to the lower right of the maze and use the rest of the fruit energy to break the rock blocking off another piece of fruit and a tree. Then, eat the fruit and dig up the tree to gain access to the DIY Workbench.

An Old Friend

Using the DIY Workbench, craft a Flimsy Axe, and upgrade it into a regular Axe. This will be enough to cut down the remaining trees and clear the way to Rover. First, head left to chop down a tree blocking two pieces of fruit, then head to the lower left of the island to chop a tree blocking a third. Eat these fruits now, they’ll be used to get all the Bell Vouchers on the island.

Next, head to the set of three trees in a row and cut them down to find Rover. A familiar face to fans of the series, he’ll give the player Rover’s Briefcase if it’s their first time clearing the maze. After meeting Rover, all that remains is to grab the nine Bell Vouchers on the island. The first four can be found right next to Rover’s campsite, and are accessed by digging up a bush. The remaining vouchers are behind the bushes to the north of the campsite, dig them up, then head around the outer ring of the island to find three rocks, break them with fruit energy to collect the remaining five vouchers.

Players can visit the maze once per day, and it doesn’t change between visits. The event will run into May 7th, giving players ample opportunity to complete it and claim Rover’s Briefcase.
