All of that has led to Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling over 13 million copies on Nintendo Switch, an unprecedented half of which are digital — even surpassing Nintendo’s lifetime expectations for the game. The wealth of content being created and shared by those online while in quarantine has finally inspired those who worked on the game themselves, with the musicians behind the memorable theme song to Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently performing the theme separately from their homes.

Opening with the now-iconic trumpet, ukulele, and conga drums, the trio is then joined by the double bass and accordion that Animal Crossing players are likely incredibly familiar with to complete the simple yet beautiful piece. The theme, along with the rest of the game’s soundtrack, was written by series composer Kazumi Totaka, who also happens to be the real-life inspiration for everyone’s favorite naked dog, K.K. Slider.

This isn’t the only great way Animal Crossing: New Horizons has brought people together. In addition to having get-togethers and celebrating birthdays on one another’s islands, players used the game to celebrate Mother’s Day this month, as well as host graduation ceremonies attended by famous politicians.

Animal Crossing isn’t the only place where social-distancing fun is being had, however. Since film and television production is still mostly at a stand-still, people like these talented stuntwomen and actresses had to find ways to occupy their time as well, which thankfully yielded entertaining results for the rest of us.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons boasts a stunning amount of things to do, even after getting a 5-star island. Plus there are plenty of hybrid flower combinations that are possible for players to spruce up their islands with.
