Personalizing and customizing an island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons to suit a player’s personal preferences is probably one of the major reasons why many fans continue to play the game to this day. Since its launch in 2020, Nintendo has offered its players many customization options, allowing them a lot of freedom to build their island however they want to. This explains why there is still a lot of fan-generated content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons including the new mining area a player has added onto their island.

Showing off their hard work, Redditor sasspool shared a photo of the mining area they worked on in their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. In the photo, it can be seen how they were able to put all the breakable rocks found on the island in one area surrounding a stone cave. To complete the whole mining area look, they even added some custom design railroad tracks and stone paths with several Mining Car furniture pieces. Many fans will likely recognize the stone cave from the free 2.0 update and the mining carts from the game’s Happy Home Paradise DLC.
Comments on the Reddit thread seemed to really appreciate how sasspool’s built their mining area. Given how tough it is to move around the breakable rocks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it likely took a lot of time and persistence for the artist to place them in specific locations. Fellow fans complimented their work, stating that they would probably build a similar area on their own island. One even commented that it was giving them some Stardew Valley vibes, especially with the cave, railroad tracks, and mining carts.
Creating custom areas with the breakable rocks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the toughest things to do in the game, given how these rocks spawn randomly in empty spaces around a player’s island. And sasspool was able to do so beautifully. Hopefully this inspires the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community and encourages them to create their own rock-breaking spaces, even if it takes a lot of time and effort.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch.
