This post comes from u/kirthika4ram, and it shows a wholesome clip of them discovering a lily-of-the-valley on their island, an indicator that they have reached a five-star island. This player starts the clip running along their brick path past rows and rows of flowers. They then equip their net and begin picking up some of the sticks that have fallen nearby only to notice a single lily-of-the-valley on the ground nearby. U/kirthika4ram reacts to this find by halting suddenly and spinning wildly around the fresh plant. This spinning continues as they carefully avoid damaging their new prized flower and celebrate their new achievement.

The Lily-of-the-valley is a rare plant in the game that only spawns on a player’s island when they have achieved that five-star rating. To get a five-star rating in Animal Crossing: New Horizons requires players to have at least 8 villagers on their island, score more than 665 points on the island’s development category (increased with a variety of furniture), and over 450 points in scenery (increased with flowers, trees, and DIY furniture).

This wholesome reaction shows off just how challenging getting an island to this level can be. Players can make getting a five-star rating in Animal Crossing: New Horizons easier by placing all their unique furniture items on their island and filling the island with flowers and trees, but this can alter the look of the island dramatically. For those who want to style their island as they like, getting to five stars is a daunting task.

Then again, building the Museum and Nook’s Cranny helps with this goal as well as building as many bridges in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as possible. On top of this, avoiding the things that detract from this rating (leaving clutter on the island, growing too many trees) is relatively easy to accomplish. Either way, this player shares a great moment from their playthrough that many Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have experienced.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
