As previously indicated, getting Star Fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons begins with witnessing a meteor shower. Fortunately, players need not guess when a meteor shower will occur, as Tom Nook or Isabelle will mention that one is coming during their daily briefing, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ shooting stars will appear from 7pm to 4am on the night of that announcement.

When a player sees these shooting stars, they will then want to make a wish on them. This is done by finding a location that has a view of the meteor shower that is unobstructed by buildings and trees, making sure that all tools are unequipped, and directing the camera towards the sky. Then Animal Crossing: New Horizons players must simply wait until a shooting star passes by and press A to wish on it.

From there, players will need to wait until the following day before they can reap the rewards of wishing on shooting stars in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These rewards are Star Fragments and Large Star Fragments, and they will appear on the beaches of a player’s island the day after the wishes were made. Notably, the more wishes a player makes, the more Star Fragments they will receive, and fans are thus advised to make several during an ACNH meteor shower.

Once a player has three Star Fragments and one Large Star Fragment, they will then be able to craft a Star Wand, assuming that they have received the DIY recipe from Blathers’ sister Celeste. This wand functions something like a tool ring for clothing, allowing players to instantly switch between eight outfits that they create, and fans that have been working on their wardrobes will certainly want to craft this special tool as soon as they can.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
