For those who are somehow unfamiliar with the meme-like song, “Chrissy Wake Up” is a humorous melodic remix of an otherwise terrifying scene, where Stranger Things Season 4 character Chrissy Cunningham is taken by Vecna, the series’ main antagonist. Chrissy goes into a catatonic state for a while before her grisly death, causing fan-favorite Eddie Munson to repeatedly yell “Chrissy, wake up!”

A TikTok user and streamer by the name of Victreeon is the one behind the Animal Crossing: New Horizons version of the viral “Chrissy Wake Up” Stranger Things song, which is now becoming viral in its own right. The roughly 30 second clip first shows the streamer voicing their desire to have the meme melody as their island tune, before going to Isabelle to make the town tune themselves. After putting in the properly noted melody, Isabelle sings the new composition herself, which to the shock of the streamer, sounds close the words of the viral song.

The song is sure to inspire many other players to set up the darkly comedic tune on their own, it isn’t the only meme-worthy song fans have been putting on their islands. Another Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has Careless Whisper as their island tune, and has posted images of the melody, so others can enjoy George Michael’s classic saxophone-based jam themselves. Whatever melody is set for the town tune will be broadcasted during events from Town Hall in addition to the door-opening and closing jingle. Some villagers may even hum the same tune as well.

Putting popular or viral songs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t end at the island tune either, as one fan has proven. Rather than using the composer with Isabelle to create a song, this player utilizes K.K. Slider to recreate a Bo Burnham song. The talented gamer emulates the popular musical comedian’s “Welcome to the Internet,” even going so far as to recreate the same set-up he had from the comedy special from which it came. While there aren’t any updates on the horizon, Animal Crossing: New Horizons still has a bright future.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch.
