To create an island tune in Animal Crossing: New Horizons players must first upgrade the Resident Services tent by building the museum, Nook’s Cranny, and houses for three villagers. Once the tent has been upgraded to a legitimate building, players can then speak with Isabelle inside and ask her to “change the island tune.” Doing so will bring up a simple composer, which fans can then use to create and set their custom ACNH town tune.

While the process for making a town tune in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is simple enough, some fans may be looking for a little guidance with their compositions. Fortunately, many players have already begun sharing their custom island tunes by way of a website called NookNet. Indeed, fans can use the browse and search functions on NookNet to preview a myriad of town tunes, and they can then simply copy desirable compositions into their own games.

Of course, town tunes are far from the only way for players to customize their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as bridges, slopes, and paths can all be employed to create something truly unique. There is even terraforming in ACNH, which fans can use to really change the layouts of their islands when it has been unlocked. While custom town tunes may feel fairly small when compared to these large projects, they still give players another way to breathe a little more life into their creations.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
