Fish that Spawn at Night
Whereas some fish only spawn in certain areas or during certain whether – like the deep sea coelacanth who spawns in rainy weather – some fish only spawn at night. To be more specific, some fish only spawn in certain bodies of water from 4 pm – 9 am. There are plenty of fish that adhere to this time-frame, like the ocean football fish or the cliff river stringfish. Fish currently spawning at night in the Northern Hemisphere include:

There are plenty of fish to look at for that only spawn at night. If players are still trying to catch the fish that disappear after March, there are a handful of them that only appear at night. Fish like the stringfish, which spawns in the rivers on cliffs, only appear during the night. While this can be an arduous process there are thankfully a few tips to help players expedite the process of fishing, whether its during the day or nighttime.
Fishing Tips
Animal Crossing can be a relaxing game to play and many players consider fishing to be one of the series’ most relaxing activities. However, when players are hunting for a very rare fish at a specific time of day it can be a very frustrating experience. One way to alleviate a bit of the frustration is to look for rare fish on mystery islands. By using nook miles to go to mystery islands, players can spawn and respawn fish faster than on normal islands making it easier to find rare fish.
Another very helpful tip to make fishing easier is using fish bait. Fish bait can be crafted by digging up manila clams on the beach. To use fish bait, simply approach any body of water and scatter the bait. A fish is guaranteed to spawn whenever fish bait is scattered. This allows players to find fish of a certain size very quickly.
While fishing can be a very relaxing activity in New Horizons, it can also be stressful depending on the situation. Catching some night fish like the barreleye won’t prove too difficult for most players, but other fish can be quite the challenge. Fish that spawn on river cliffs can be particularly troublesome, like the stringfish. Hopefully these fish won’t elude players for too long.
